KOCHI: The number of fever cases is on the rise in the district with 555 fever cases - 522 outpatients and 33 inpatients - being reported on Monday. Three Hepatitis A cases - one in Edakkattuvayal, one in Eloor and another in Choornikkara - were also confirmed. Two malaria cases have been confirmed, one in Payippara and another within the Corporation limits. A rat fever case has also been confirmed at Ramamangalam. Three are suspected to suffer from dengue fever. Thirteen cases of Hepatitis A cases have been reported, four in Malayidam Thuruthu, two in Corporation limits, two in Vengola, two in Kalady and one each in Kadavoor, Aluva and Poothotta. Though awareness on preventive measures are being imparted, people are still sticking to the habit of drinking water directly from wells and water taps which is the main cause for fever.
