THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister for Forests and Film Industry K B Ganesh Kumar said that in the coming days the films to be brought to the theatres completely through the Chalachithra Academy. Participating in the pooja ceremony of Dr Biju’s new film “Akasathinte niram” at Hotel Taj Residency here on Thursday, he said that film producers and directors were now facing a crisis for releasing the films following undue pressure exerted by the various organisations in the film industry, including that of the distributors. He said the government was planning to liberate the film industry from the bullying tactics of the various film industry organisations.He said all the KSIDC-owned theatres would be converted into multiplexes with four theatres in place of the two theatres. He said KSIDC was ready to set up theatre complexes at municipalities which were ready to provide fifty cents of land on lease. The theatres will have seating capacity of 150, 250 and 350 seats. Palakkad Municipality has already come forward by offering land for the theatre. He said a theatre would be set up at the native place of Salim Ahammad, the director of the film “Adaminte Makan Abu”, if land was made available at his native place of Mattannur. Ganesh Kumar said that it was the ghost of yesteryear films which were being produced now in Kerala while films depicting Tamil culture were being produced in Tamil Nadu. The government would take all possible measures to help good cinema in the state, he said. Speaker G Karthikeyan switched on the shooting of the film at the pooja ceremony which was attended by M A Baby MLA, cine director Shaji N Karun, poet O N V Kurup, and P K Biju MP.
