SAMBALPUR: Five persons, including four contractual workers of Bhusan Power and Steel Limited, have been arrested by Thelkuli police for their alleged involvement in the theft of about a quintal of copper cables on Sunday. The accused have been identified as Prashanta Mohapatra and Khemasagar Kisan of Deogarh, Tapan Kumar Mohapatra of Angul, Bijay Kumar Swain of Jagatsinghpur besides receiver of the stolen goods Rahul Kumar Sahu of Telibhata in Jharsuguda. Rahul runs a shop in Thelkuli. A case has been registered and the accused have been remanded in judicial custody.21 injured in mishapsAround 12 persons were injured after a truck rammed a pickup van carrying a ‘bhajan’ troupe from Banki at Amlipani on NH-55 on Sunday under Jujumura police limits. The injured were rushed to Jujumura primary health centre and later, four among them, were shifted to district headquarters hospital after their condition deteriorated. In another incident at Bargarh, nine persons were injured when an autorickshaw carrying labourers to a construction site at Sason from Kantapali hit parked tractors near Majhipali on Sunday.They were rushed to district headquarters hospital and later discharged after medical attention.
