KOCHI: The Central Police have arrested five persons for forging a bank guarantee of Rs 10 crore. The arrested have been identified as S D Thyagarajan, 37, Kalamegham P, 42, M Kamaraswami, 47, D Shanmugham, 42 and Unnikrishnan,43. According to the police, the accused were planning to use the forged bank guarantee for importing purposes.The police said that the accused had forged the document in the name of Central Bank of India, Patuapara branch in Kolkata. The fraud was exposed when assistant manager of the same bank on MG road verified the document with Patuapara branch and found that no such document was issued there.The Central police on the basis of a tip-off, tracked down the remaining persons involved in the plot. The laptops and pen drives of the accused persons have been recovered and will be sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory, the police said.The police seized two vehicles, a Tamil Nadu-registered Scorpio and a Kerala-registered Skoda car, from the accused. A team led by City Police Commissioner M R Ajith Kumar and Deputy Police Commissioner Gopalakrishna Pillai made the arrest.
