Force-fed tablets by dad, girl dies

CHENNAI: A nine-year-old girl died, while her brother survived, after the siblings’ father forced them to take an overdose of sleeping tablets at Puzhal. Police are yet to ascertain the motive behind the father’s action.     Jayavarshini, daughter of a rice seller, died on Thursday morning after she consumed an overdose of tablets given by her father P Selvam, a resident of Vinayakapuram, Surapet, near Puzhal. He reportedly forced his elder son Darshan too to consume them, but he survived.  Both children were forced to consume over 15 tablets, a police officer said.
