Former Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) (JVM) Member of Parliament from Jamshedpur, Ajay Kumar will formally join Congress party at a function to be held in Ranchi on August 22.
Kumar, who was given a warm welcome by Congress party leaders and workers on his arrival today, told newsmen that he has already joined the party technically and will make the formal announcement at a press conference to be held in Ranchi on August 22.
"The negotiation in this regard with Congress was going on for last two months and I also met the AICC President Sonia Gandhi during the budget session of parliament recently," Kumar said adding that JVM Supremo Babulal Marandi has been apprised about the development.
Congress is the only option for me as far as doing politics at national level, Kumar said.
"It was a far-sighted decision as I wanted to involve in National politics," Kumar said while describing Congress as "vibgyor" as it takes along all section of society.
Appreciating former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi's leadership quality, Kumar said he was an honest and an important leader of Jharkhand while expressing his gratitude to JVM for providing him a political platform.
