New Delhi: It's a welcome sign for the Hindi film industry that the filmmakers are now looking more for stories from places other than the metropolitans.
'Jo Dooba So Paar-It's love in Bihar' is another film to carry forward this trend. Debut directorial venture of Praveen Kumar, 'Jo Dooba So Paar' promises to take the audiences to a state where love knows no bounds.
As the name suggests, the film is set in Bihar, where a young boy Kishu is struggling with the complexities of life.
Not only in the exam of life, Kishu regularly fails in his school exams too. Kishu needs to help his father on the truck and thus he comes square with problematic issues surrounding the people in that area. Kishu tackles all the problems in his own quirky manner and emerges triumphant but the victory too does not guarantee a good and peaceful life for him.
The worst happens afterwards when Kishu, the potential failure in life, falls in love, that too with a very special girl.
His love interest is an American citizen Sapna who has come to Bihar to carry a research on Madhubani paintings.
Her interest takes Sapna to high risk areas infamous for crime and corruption.
There is a bigger gap between Kishu and Sapna than what meets the eyes. The girl's rich upper caste uncle, Kishu's temperamental father and the society try real hard to make the gap wider but the guy has decided to not pull out his feet at any cost.
At such a point of time when the boy expects some sympathy from the girl's side, her American boyfriend arrives at the scene.
The boy has still not come out of the surprise grip when Sapna gets kidnapped.
To unfold the mystery behind the kidnapping, Kishu finally decides to go all out and puts everything on stake to get the girl back.
Only film will reveal whether the poor lover gets successful or not but the film has created quite a buzz before its October 14 release.
The star cast of the film includes Rajat Kapoor and Vinay Pathak who are fast emerging as the dependable actors of small budget films. Their reasonably successful track record and versatility had made them endear to filmmakers who want to come up with interesting and meaningful films.
The film has been shown at some film festivals and has received mixed responses. Earlier the film was in news for the trouble caused in obtaining the censor certificate. The regulatory board had some issues with the frequent usage of some abusive words.
Anand Tiwari who plays Kishu in 'Jab Dooba So Paar' has already featured in six films and thus he is expected to put a good show in the film.
The film can gain momentum at the box office for the depiction of small town ethos.
