From Bush to Mush: Thanks for keeping your word

New Delhi: Mr Musharraf begun his second and final five-year presidential term with some encouragement from his American counterpart, President George Bush.

However, George Bush also had a warning for the retired general.

"Musharraf had told me that he would doff his uniform and I appreciate the fact that he has kept his word. It was something that a lot of people doubted would ever happen," Bush said.

"I have also said that Musharraf is a person who has done a lot for Pakistan democracy and in my judgement, in order to get Pakistan back on the road to democracy, he has to suspend the Emergency law," he added.

Bush further said that Musharraf has been an absolutely reliable partner in dealing with extremists.
