HYDERABAD/BELLARY: He used to travel in his Rolls Royce only on his birthdays. He would reportedly get most expensive gifts on this day which used to be followed by lavish birthday bashes. But on his 46th birthday on Wednesday, former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy was all alone inside his cell in the Chanchalguda prison.
This day last year, the former minister and mining czar launched a campaign- Clean Bellary and Beautiful Bellary. He had then offered special pooja at the Sri Kanaka Durgamma temple along with family members and all elected members of Bellary district. Later he distributed fruits to inmates of old age home named after his parents Rukminamma and Chenga Reddy and to patients at the TB sanitorium in Bellary. This, time, however, his family members kept a low profile. His younger brother and chairman of the Karnataka Cooperative Milk Federation Gali Somashekhar Reddy too stayed back in the town. His elder brother and former revenue minister Gali Karunakara Reddy completely distanced himself from his two siblings.
