Gang of 4 murders father-son duo

PUDUCHERRY: Two persons, a man and his son, were hacked to death by an armed gang at Samipillai Thottam here, on Sunday morning.According to police sources, the four-member gang, who reached the spot on motorbikes, first hacked Prakash (28), who was watching TV in his house and then murdered his father Sathyamurthy (52), who hearing his son’s cries, rushed to his aid.Sathyamurthy died on the spot. Prakash was rushed to a nearby hospital, but he died on the way. The gang managed to escape, the police said.What led to the murders was a love affair that went sour.  Prakash and a local rowdy Dhadi Ganesh were friends, with the latter visiting Prakash’s house quite often.  Ganesh, who was already married, fell in love with Prakash’s sister Sivasakathi and soon they got married.  On May 10 this year,  Sivasakathi was alleged to have committed suicide.  She was found hanging in her home at Thiruvallvar Nagar.Sathymurthy and his son who suspected foul play, filed a complaint with the police against Dhadi Ganesh, alleging that he was responsible for her death.Police suspect that Ganesh masterminded the killing along with an associate, Karnan, and three others.  Lawspet police said that Sathyamurthy’s wife filed a complaint.  The police have launched a search for Ganesh, Karnan and the other three gang members.
