HYDERABAD: A 20-year-old girl was killed when her boyfriend, with whom she was travelling in a car, rammed the car into a roadside tree in the Osmania University campus on Monday night, suspecting that some persons were chasing them.Bhavana Kumari (20), a resident of Himayathnagar, was killed in the mishap while her boyfriend Akhil (20), suffered severe injuries.Bhavana was student of Hamstech Institute of Fashion and Interior Design while Akhil is pursuing interior designing course from the same college.Osmania University police inspector P Ashok said the duo came to the OU campus in a Maruti car on Monday evening. After dropping one of their friends near the campus, Akhil parked the car at an isolated place near the university's chemistry department.The duo was having a 'friendly' chat when Akhil suddenly heard a knock on the window pane of the car."Akhil thought that someone who wanted to catch them was following them. He immediately switched his car on and drove at a high speed and rammed straight into a roadside tree," Ashok said.Bhavana died on the spot of severe injuries while Akhil has been shifted to a hospital for treatment. Police registered a case.
