HYDERABAD: It was Lord Ganesha’s “spiritual powers” that helped India break the jinx at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium at Uppal last month. The idol in front of the stadium was installed ahead of the match by the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) following astrologers’ advice as the home team had till then not won a single match there. Now that, Ganesha has delivered, the HCA wants to make the Lord a permanent feature of the stadium. Since it was set up in a hurry, Ganesha too has been feeling the heat due to lack of a proper shade as do spectators at the stadium. As a temporary arrangement, the authorities have put up an umbrella for Him.“We are planning to build a small temple for Ganesha and a pujari will conduct pujas daily,’’ said DS Chalapathi, secretary of HCA. Till the temple is constructed, Ganesha will have to be content with the umbrella.
