Gurgaon Police arrested Mrityunjay Tiwari for misbehaving and attacking the victims.

Gurgaon: More of the men who misbehaved with two women and thrashed their husbands and a friend with iron rods and hockey sticks at a bar in Gurgaon two days ago will be arrested soon, the police said on Monday.

One suspect has been held already.

"We have arrested Mrityunjay Tiwari for misbehaving and attacking Gursharan Singh, a businessman, Vikram Bal, a pilot, and their wives. Tiwari and his friends also attacked their pilot friend Samarjeet Singh Cheema," Assistant Commissioner of Gurgaon Police Sumit Kumar said.

"We are conducting raids at the houses of the other accused and they will be arrested soon," he added.

The incident occurred late Saturday at Buzz, a bar inside a shopping mall in DLF Phase I, where Cheema was having dinner with his friends - Gursharan, Vikram and their wives.

According to Cheema, they were dining at the bar when a drunk youth, later identified as Gaurav, made some obscene remarks at the women.

"When I protested, the man began fighting with us. After this he left the pub, only to return with 10-12 of his friends. They were all armed with iron rods and hockey sticks. A few were also brandishing guns and threatened to shoot us," Cheema said.

"They beat us mercilessly and misbehaved with women. Nobody, including the bouncers (of the bar), bothered to intervene. The assault continued till the police reached after one of us made a distress phone call. But to our utter disbelief, the police let the men go."

The police took the victims to a private hospital, where Cheema had to undergo emergency kneecap replacement surgery. His friends were discharged after treatment.
