KOCHI: CBI Assistant Superintendent P G Haridath, who was found dead on Thursday evening, has been under treatment for depression. And, even on Thursday morning, he had consulted a clinical psychologist. Dr Shaju George, a psychiatrist at the Lourdes Hospital here, revealed that he was improving at one stage and it was just a week before that the medicines were re-started. “He was under treatment for depressive disorder and was definitely improving. At one point, the medicines were stopped as he developed intolerance towards drugs. From last week onwards the medicines were restarted,” Dr Shaju told Express. The unexpected news has come a shock for Shaju, who had even met Haridath two days back. “Definitely a shocking news for me. I met him the day before yesterday. Even on Thursday he came to my OP. But he was directed to meet the clinical psychologist for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy,”  Dr Shaju recalled. When asked what might have led to the incident, Dr Shaju declined to comment. “Depressive disorder occurs due to various aspects. It is not right to reveal further about the patient and the treatment he was undergoing. It is against the ethics,” he said. It was recently that Haridath sought medical help for depressive disorder. Based on the nature of disorder and course of treatment, he was given various permutations and combinations of medicines. A note found by the police near Haridath’s body has mentioned that he committed suicide due to work pressure. Also, he named a couple of officials in the note.
