ALAPPUZHA: The Agriculture Department has initiated steps to bringharvesters from Tamil Nadu for the puncha paddy harvest in Kuttanad, informed Principal Agricultural Officer B Nalinakumar at a District Development Committee meeting held at the Collectorate the other day.A meeting of agricultural officers and farmers’ societies will be held at the Agricultural Office on February 7 in this regard, he said. The rent for the reaping machines will be decided at the upcoming meeting, he added.The Milk Shed project of the Dairy Development Department will be completed next month, the officials said. The meeting also decided to inaugurate the Boat Repairing Yard of the Kerala State Water Transport Department at Punnamada, which was completed in February end. Collector Saurabh Jain presided over the function. MLAs G Sudhakaran, P Thilothaman and M A Aarif, district panchayat president Prathibha Hari and district planning officer M C Thankappan spoke.
