CUTTACK: With the State Government challenging the AICTE approval for second shift admission in select engineering colleges, the single judge bench of Justice SC Parija of the Orissa High Court on Tuesday issued notice to the Technical Education regulatory body of the country. The court has directed that any admission made pursuant to the second shift approval shall be subject to the result of the writ petition.  The State has filed the writ petition challenging the action of the AICTE approving the second shift admission on the ground that the regulatory body had not taken its report while granting such approval. Appearing for the State, Additional Government lawyer V Narsingh stated that the approval for second shift admission was unwarranted as more than 20,000 seats are vacant in the engineering colleges after the first admission. Such action may affect the existence of the newly established institutions as well as the educational standards in the approved colleges, he argued.
