The Allahabad High Court on Wednesday directed the chairman and the secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission to appear before it next week in connection with a petition alleging irregularities in selection process.

A division bench comprising justices Rakesh Tiwari and A R Masoodi asked the officials to appear in person on August 19 and file their counter-affidavits on the petition of Rajendra Kumar Chaubey.

The petitioner had alleged that in the merit list for the preliminary examinations for selection to the posts of review officers, which were declared on June 23, there were a number of irregularities.

He had also alleged that although the last date for submission of forms for the Mains exams was August 14, the cut-off was declared only on August 5 in order so that nobody had the time to challenge the cut-off limit.
