KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Wednesday decided to issue a fresh chargesheet to M V Jayarajan, against whom the court had initiated contempt of court proceedings.The court decided to issue a fresh chargesheet after the court-appointed prosecutor S Sreekumar submitted that the chargesheet already issued was improper.The court has asked the CPM leader to appear in person. The time and date to issue the new chargesheet will be announced later. The High Court had initiated suo motu contempt of court proceedings against Jayarajan after he made critical comments against judges for banning roadside meetings during a public speech in Kannur on June 26 last year. The court, after examining available documents, video clippings and submissions made by amicus curiae, concluded that there was contempt in his remarks. The trial proceedings in the case began on July 21. Jayarajan is facing trial under sections 2(c) and 12 of the Contempt of Courts Act, 1971.
