BANGALORE: Seldom does the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) do something that leaves people spellbound. But this time they seem intent on leaving behind a mark and improving lives for people in the city. Miler’s tank Bund Road and Jasma Bhavan Road have been asphalted making it a easy drive to Cantonment for everyone from MG Road, Queen’s Road and Ambedkar Veedhi.  The road was left in the same deplorable condition for several long months before the BBMP decided to wake up one day and realise that the road needed attention immediately. And voila! There is a new, tarred road with easy and smooth flow of traffic. The work was undertaken and completed by the BBMP in a miraculous two days.    To the BBMP’s credit, in spite of it being done in a flurry, a commendable job of the same has been done. The tar is yet to settle down due to the time frame it has been given. But the sight of it is better than the muddy mess one was subjected to when visiting the road. The severity of the work was so much that one chose alternate routes to traverse their way through.A resident, on the locality, on the condition of anonymity, said, “We had to live through the nightmare of Miller’s Road, re-diversion of traffic to Bund Road and the BWSSB work on Jasma Bhavan Road at the same time. One couldn’t walk out of the house without wearing thick, high boots due to the fear of getting dirty. Whatever be the reason, we are glad to have to a new road.” It also formed long queues of vehicles all they way until Vasanthanagar signal junction causing severe hassles for commuters and delay in traversing through the stretch. Now the roads have been given a new coat of white paint making it look like it’s just been picked off the backdrop of a long, winding, highway road than a bustling city road. Pragya, a motorist, was thrilled to be using the road. He asserted, “I am a routine user of the road. It is so smooth now after the misery that we put through for almost five months. The work seems to be well done as there is effortless movement of traffic. It is heartening to see the authorities take action.” The local corporator of the area, Katta Jagadish, was unavailable for comments. The BBMP engineer for the area, Suresh, remarked, “It was a matter of urgency and hence it was undertaken on a priority basis.”
