KOZHIKODE: “In the case of M V Jayarajan, the High Court had exceeded its authority and had taken an unusual stand by not allowing time to file an appeal and acted vengefully,” CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan has said.He was addressing a meeting held to form the reception committee for the 20th CPM Party Congress to be held from 2012 April 4 to April 9 here.The Supreme Court criticised the High Court for denying Jayarajan the right to appeal against the order and for the language like ‘worm’ used in the judgment.“We have no surprise in the Supreme Court verdict but it gives extreme happiness that Supreme Court pointed out the antidemocratic stance of the High Court. We protested against the particular verdict of the court in front of the High Court and not against any judge, we have clear view on courts. The peaceful protest conducted outside the court drawn commendable remarks from the public,” said Pinarayi.By implementing the distribution of rice at a price of Re 1, the Government incurred a loss of more than Rs 251 crore. The UDF also sabotaged development projects of around Rs 5,000 crore  implemented by the LDF government, he alleged.The Legislative Assembly had unanimously passed a Bill to allow roadside meetings. But this law was also stayed by the court.
