A 13-year-old class VIII student of Nagarjuna Grammar School was hospitalised after being beaten up allegedly by his headmaster on Saturday for not concentrating on studies in the classroom in Indiranagar in Chandanagar police limits. According to police, parents of the victim came to know about the incident when they noticed injuries on his legs. They took the victim, Abdul Pasha, to a nearby hospital for treatment. Pasha's condition is said to be stable.
At around 5.30 pm on Saturday, the school's headmaster, Srinivas Shankar, found Abdul Pasha talking with other students in the classroom and not concentrating on his studies. The irritated teacher beat him up with a stick,'' said inspector N Venkateswarlu.
Even as it was second Saturday and a holiday, the school management conducted special classes. The school management refused to talk with Pasha's parents when they approached them over the issue. Later, they lodged a complaint with police stating that his son was rendered to a deliberate corporal punishment. They also demanded that stern action should be taken against the management for conducting special class on the holiday.
A case against the headmaster was registered under section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means).
