BANGALORE: The State Horticulture Department is soon launching a website, which will provide all relevant details on plants and vegetables. Speaking to Express, Dr E Muralidhara, Chairman, Hortidoctors Diary Committee said, “The website- www.hortidoctors.com, which is likely to be launched on September 14 will provide farmers with information on horticulture products, horticulture exports and various schemes available for farmers.” Through this website, anyone can post their queries related to plants, fruits, vegetables, pesticides and fertilizers.In addition to the general information about Lalbagh and Cubbon Park, all technical details related to horticulture will be available on the website. Details of all the officials from Horticulture Department will also be available. “As of now there are about 1,200 officers on duty. Contact numbers, address and names of all the officers working across the State in different districts and cities will be available on the website” said Muralidhara. When asked about the purpose of coming up with the website, he said, “people are getting extremely busy and hardly get time to visit the library or laboratory to gather information. At this juncture people want easily available information, this website will make their work very easy. The Horticulture Department also wants to generate awareness among farmers through this website. He said, “as most farmers and people from the agricultural sector are illiterate, we will be focusing on their children who could in turn help their parents .”
