BANGALORE: Karnataka High Court on Friday directed city corporation to file an affidavit stating how it plans to evict the remaining encroachers on the storm water drains.The Chief Executive Engineer of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), M L Munikrishna, filed an affidavit in the court stating that from March 25 to May 25, eight encroachments had been identified in Vrishabavathi Valley and six of them had been cleared. In Koramangala Valley, all 80 encroachments have been cleared. Around 242 encroachments have been identified in Challaghatta valley and 191 of them have been cleared.The Division Bench consisting of Chief Justice J S Khehar and Justice H G Ramesh directed the BBMP to file an affidavit stating how it plans to clear the remaining encroachment on the storm water drains in the city.Five Year Course Advocates Association had filed a PIL, requesting the court to direct the BBMP to clear the encroachments on the storm water drains and rajakaluves in the city in 2009. The court has been regularly monitoring the proceedings and issuing directions to the concerned officials in the Palike since then.
