Hyderabad: A 19-year-old Hyderabad resident was allegedly raped inside a cinema hall by a man who she had befriended on Facebook. The two had gone to watch Padmaavat last Monday, when the incident took place inside the theatre that was relatively empty.
Hyderabad Police have arrested 23-year-old Kandakatla Bikshapathi, the accused who had befriended the girl on Facebook about two months ago.
On January 29, the two of them went to Prashanth Theatre in Secunderabad area to watch Padmaavat. Taking advantage of the fact that the movie was still playing and there were a very few people present inside the theatre, the accused forced himself on her.
The victim has suffered severe injuries. Based on a complaint filed by the victim, the local police have registered a case and the accused was arrested.
The police have also initiated action against the owner of Prashanth Theatre for negligence.
