Goa: The 36th International Film Festival of India begins in Goa on Thursday evening and it promises to be an action-packed affair.

The opening night is expected to leave no stone unturned in making an impression.

The INOX multiplex is teeming with activity where performers perfected their jhatkas and matkas for the opening night on Thursday.

Television star Prachi Shah is getting her jugalbandi right with rapster Blase while Pakistani actress Meera is perfecting her steps on a number from Umrao Jaan.

Singer Hema Sardesai and music-director Himmesh Reshammiya are straining their vocal chords to render the title track for the fest. And Tamil actress Shreya is shaking a leg to a hit track from Roja.

The rehearsals had most of the performers working towards hitting all the right notes.

Others expected to perform are actors Urmila Matondkar, Amisha Patel and the cast of Pooja Bhatt's film Holiday who have been rehearsing rigorously for the past few days.

While the IFFI might be talking all kinds of cinema, the opening night certainly promises grooves, moves and music with a distinct Indian flavour.

In an unpleasant incident before the inauguration of the festival, the media gheraoed (stormed upto) the director for not allowing camerapersons to take their cameras on some prime spots.

For years there has been a complaint that film festivals in India do not really reflect the Indian film industry.

This year the organizers have made sure that there is masala not just from Bollywood but from all over the country.

What's your reaction?
