Julia Hackman Chafe, a US TikToker, content creator and “jewellery influencer”, took to Instagram on Friday to share a video of Mumbai’s Jio World Convention Centre — the wedding venue of industrialist Mukesh Ambani and philanthropist Nita Ambani’s younger son Anant Ambani with Radhika Merchant — leaving viewers asking for more.
In the short clip, Chafe gives a tour of the wedding set which is decked up like a bazaar, with a lassi shop and an antique shop among others.
“They built an entire world. Look at this, a lassi shop, an antique shop. This should look like a convention centre and we’re in like a magical world. This is insane,” she said in the voiceover.
Earlier, Chafe’s videos, where she is trying on luxury traditional outfits, went viral on social media as she posed for viewers. In a video titled, “Trying on dresses for the Ambani wedding,” she says, “When I first got invited, the first person I called was Hema Bose. She’s a fashion powerhouse and you have to see what she sent me.”
Chafe, struggling to hold up the heavy lehengas, jokes that her back “is gonna go out” and applauds Indian women for their strength. She also shared a video of herself getting dolled up for the Ambani wedding. In the video titled “Getting my makeup done for the Ambani wedding”, Chafe shares how thrilled she is to meet Bollywood celebrities. “I know everything about everyone,” she says, adding: “I went through a 35-page PowerPoint on them!”
Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant got married in a grand ceremony on Friday. In videos and photos that have surfaced online, Shah Rukh, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Rekha, Salman Khan and many other stars were seen seated in the audience, blessing the couple as they exchange their vows.
The Shubh Aashirwad ceremony to bless the couple will be held on Saturday while Mangal Utsav, a grand reception, will be held on Sunday.
