Pratidhwani, a welfare and recreation organisation for IT employees, kicked off one of the biggest football tournaments at Technopark in Thiruvananthapuram on July 6. The event was organised in association with Yoode Promotions and Raviz Hotels. The football tournament is named Raviz Pratidhwani Sevens. A trophy handover ceremony by the defending champions, team bike rally and jersey unveiling was held on the occasion of the inauguration.
The tournament started with an exhibition match between the Pratidhwani team representing various companies and the Kerala Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) Media XI. The tournament, which will be held till the end of August, will comprise 152 matches. More than 2000 employees from 93 IT companies will take to the field representing various teams. The match will be played on Saturday and Sunday at the Technopark ground.
The first rounds will be played on a league basis and followed by a knockout. Semi-finals and finals will be on weekdays. 25,000 rupees and the prestigious trophy will be awarded to the winning team. Apart from this, the winners will be awarded many attractive prizes. There will be separate awards for the best player of the tournament, top scorer and best goalkeeper. The best player in each match will get the player of the match trophy and special prizes given by ‘UD’.
Prizes for the audience and Prathidhwani have been prepared by Ravis and Udi. A women’s fives tournament will also be held at the Technopark. Infosys has won the Pratidhwani sevens tournament five times. UST became the global champion beating Infosys once. The Prathidhwani tournament is the biggest football tournament in the IT sector in which all the leading IT companies of Kerala participate.
This football tournament enhances the harmony between the employees of IT companies. It helps them in easing the stress from the work. It is also believed that it increases the productivity of the employees. Each year, the IT employees participate enthusiastically and strive to attain the trophy.
