New Delhi: India have continued their domination in kabaddi.
Just one month back India had won the gold in Asian Games and now have bagged the second Kabaddi World Cup title in Mumbai defeating Iran on Thursday.
The hosts beat Iran 29-19 to win the title.
Iran were the runner-up in the first Kabaddi World Cup too.
After taking a lead of 9-0, India relaxed a bit and Iran took full advantage of it, coming back strongly to bridge the gap.
At half-time India led 13-12.
But in the second half Manpreet Singh recorded the second lona for India.
Soon India were leading 23-13, a comfortable lead of 10 points.
Iran were without star raider Aref Mojerdi and though they tried hard and were impressive in the defence but the efforts were not enough to upset the pre-match predictions.
The title came with prize money of Rs 2.5 lakh while Iran were richer by Rs 1.5 lakh.
Second-placed Iran went home richer by Rs 1.5 lakh.
Kazu Hiro Takaro of Japan was the man of the tournament while Manpreet (India) and Kiyanoush Naderian (Iran) were declared man of the final and best catcher respectively.
