New Delhi: India on Tuesday raised the pitch on the confessions of 2008 Mumbai attacks handler Abu Jundal confessions, ahead of the Foreign Secretary level talks in the capital. Ministry of Home Affairs officials have said that copies of Jundal's Pakistani passport and identity card will be handed over to the visiting Pakistan Foreign Secretary, Jaleel Jilani.
Meanwhile, CNN-IBN has also accessed a copy of the Pakistani passport and ID card which Jundal had used to travel to Saudi Arabia. It shows how Islamabad helped him find a safe haven on its soil.
Abu Jundal's Pakistani passport has the name of Riyasat Ali, an alternate identity given to him in the countru. Also, the ID provided by the Pakistani government to Jundal spells out his present and permanent address to be located in the town of Muridke in Sheikhpura district.
All this on a day Pakistan's visiting Foreign Secretary refuted allegations and demanded more details about Jundal.
He said, "India should share all evidence and information about Abu Jundal with Pakistan. Pakistan will support India in its fight against terrorism."
Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister S M Krishna said that Pakistan needs to do more on tackling terrorism but pointed out that the progress on the matter has not held the dialogue process to ransom.
"The acrimony of old times is no longer there (between India and Pakistan)," External Affairs Minister S M Krishna told reporters on board the special flight on his way back from Tajikistan.
"Pakistan has to do more on the issue of terrorism...But the issue of progress on terrorism has not held the dialogue process to ransom," he added.
These developments came amidst sources telling that Jundal was planning a major attack on the Nasik Police Academy in Maharashtra similar to what we had seen in Pakistan when terrorists attacked the Lahore Police Academy in March 2009. He confirmed the plan was delayed after the arrests in the German Bakery blast.
Armed with documentary proof, India would be looking to seal all its allegations against Jundal and Pakistan during the trial of the Lashkar operative. The ball is now in Islamabad's court.
