Washington: An Indian American doctor has been indicted by a federal grand jury on 202 counts of drug trafficking and related violations that entail a fine in excess of $500,000.
The indictment charges 59-year-old Narendra Kumar Agrawal of Galion, Ohio with engaging in a scheme to distribute nearly 500,000 tablets of narcotic controlled drugs like Percocet, Vicodin, Lortab, Loricet and Xanax to various individuals without a legitimate medical purpose, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
It also charges Agrawal, who maintained a medical office in Galion between 2004 and 2008, with running his Rapid Response Medical Centre to issue invalid and illegal prescriptions for controlled substances.
The indictment charges that an amount in excess of $500,000 is subject to forfeiture either as the proceeds of the charged criminal violations or as facilitating the charged criminal violations.
