VISAKHAPATNAM: A large number of industrialists are interested in setting up their business in Visakhapatnam region and industries with a total investment of Rs 90,000 crore are coming to the port city which is well connected by rail, road, sea and air, chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy said.The chi e f mini s t e r launched a massive tree plantation programme at the Airport here on Sunday and addressing a public meeting, he said that during recent discussions in Hyderabad industrialists expressed keen interest in establishing new industries in the Visakhapatnam region.The government has asked them to provide more job opportunities to the locals on priority, especially those who parted with their land for setting up the units, Reddy said.Chief minister directed collector Lav Agarwal to adopt the plants and take care of their growth. Though the government is taking up tree plantation programmes, but it is failing to maintain the trees, the chief minister said.Minister for Civil Aviation Ajit Singh congratulated T Subbarami Reddy who took the initiative to launch the 40 lakh tree plantation programme.Chairman of standing committee on environment, forests, science and technology T Subbarami Reddy said that all the major public sector units were taking active role in the Green Visakha programme, which aims to plant 40 lakh saplings in three years.Union minister of state for HRD D Purandeswari, ministers V Vasanta Kumar, P Balaraju, G Srinivasa Rao, K Murali Mohan and government whip Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao were present
