Mumbai: Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff, fondly referred to the Jaggu Dada, has donned a new role in real life too.
Ever since the actor has committed himself to the role Sai Baba in producer Deepak Balraj Vij's Malik Ek, he has turned a new leaf.
The die-hard non-vegetarian has now given up drinking, smoking and non-vegetarian food.
Jackie, who will be shooting in Mumbai and Shirdi for the film, has confirmed the news and added that he had permanently modified his life style. However, he clarified that he was not a heavy drinker but would smoke very often.
“I will smoke or drink on screen only if the role demands it but never again off-screen. Hopefully, the government decision to ban smoking scenes in Hindi movies will act as a deterrent for directors,” he said.
Deepak Balraj Vij added, “ I never asked him to change himself. It’s his own decision but I am happy that my film is helping him to alter his lifestyle. One song in the film has already been recorded. On the 19 February Jackie will also sing for this film. The shooting schedule will commence at the end of this month".
Deepak, who has earlier produced violent films such as Mumbai Godfather, Sailaab, Jaan Tere Naam, Bomb Blast, Hafta Bandh has now completely immersed himself in making devotional films.
He had produced Shirdi ke Sai Baba in 2001.
