HYDERABAD: The attack on Congress by the TRS and the TJAC does not faze Panchayat Raj minister K Jana Reddy.“Let them attack. I know how to deal with them. They are seeking my resignation. In cricket, depending on the batsman, bowlers are used. They may be fast bowlers or spinners. I have no difficulty in defending myself against any type of bowler,” Jana Reddy said, likening the growing friction between the Congress and the TRS to a cricket match. By saying so he made his intent clear - he would not resign come what may. Jana Reddy, who is an expert in beating around the bush, made an excellent demonstration of his talent at a news conference here on Wednesday.Without saying yes or no to the question on whether he would attend the cabinet meeting scheduled to be held shortly, the Panchayat Raj minister said he may or may not. Then he said there was nothing wrong in attending a cabinet meeting. Then he wanted to know why mediapersons were asking him the question and what stopped them from waiting till the cabinet meeting was held to find out if he was attending or not by themselves. To another query on why he was not visiting the secretariat but was attending office work at home, he sought to explain that working at home was different from working at office.“This is my way of registering protest against the delay in announcement on Telangana,” he said, but denied that it was not borne out of fear of T activists.“Fear is a word that does not exist in my dictionary,” the minister said. He, however, made a laboured effort to explain that he was in the forefront of Telangana movement and that he did not change his stand on the issue after his recent visit to Delhi.“I have no personal agenda. I am committed to the T cause,” he said.He made a serious effort to explain why he had given a call to Telangana employees to call off their stir. “I did not give the call at the behest of anyone.I only wanted them to take a break,” he said. He repeatedly said he did not mind the abuses being heaped on him by T activists. “I will not react to criticism against me because I know they (T activists) are attacking me out of frustration that Telangana state is not materialising. I understand their frustration and do not bother about the pungent words they use against me,” he said.Asked how he could continue as a minister and still fight for Telangana which are antithetical in nature, Jana Reddy said: “I do not see any difficulty in playing the two roles. While doing my official work I could register my protest. In fact, by working more also, you could register your protest,” he said.
