Mumbai: Ian Anderson, the legendary flautist of the British rock band Jethro Tull is back in Mumbai to rock the city.
"In the last 10 years we have seen India blossom in the eyes of the West. We eagerly wait to see the latest offing from Bollywood or the Indian rock bands," Anderson said.
Two years ago the band matched tunes with flautist Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, this time they are jamming along with Indian band Alms for Shanti on the January 31 and February 1, after which they will head to Bangalore.
Alms For Shanti's band members Uday Benegal and Jayesh Gandhi have been part of India's eminent rock band Indus Creed.
"The big musician is one who can maintain the same level with any other musician. And that is what music is really all about," Benegal said.
The bands are being brought together by Tower of Power, an event management company, which has organised two Jethro Tull concerts in Dubai, the last one being in 2005 with singer Remo Fernandes.
The co-organiser is a Mumbai-based event and artiste management company called Only Much Louder which has organised more than 200 rock shows in the city.
Jethro Tull is a progressive rock band and was formed in Blackpool, England in the 1960s.
Their music is marked by the quirky vocal style and unique lead flute work of Anderson.
