CHENNAI: IBM recently announced its partnership with Jeppiaar Institute of Technology, for transforming its desktop environment. By implementing IBM’s Smart Business Desktop Cloud (SBDC), the institute will be able to streamline its desktop management and reduce the constraints associated with a traditional end-user environment.IBM’s SBDC solution in partnership with VERDE as the virtualisation solution, addressed this critical need. It provided for mobility of students and also enabled images and data which can be stored in a centralised storage platform.  “With technology being the core of a technical educational institution, we need to ensure high availability and reliable IT services in a highly secure environment.  The maintenance, power, cooling, tampering of assets, and recurring costs over a period of few years had resulted in an increased Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). IBM helped us realise a clear value proposition by leveraging legacy desktops as thin clients to address our challenges and reduce energy costs.” said a JIT spokesperson. IBM, India/South Asia spokesperson said, “IBMs cloud-based solutions gave JIT easier access to their critical information they needed remotely, virtually anywhere, to help support their business objectives and enhance student and faculty experience thus resulting in increased productivity.”
