Railways has set up helpline numbers to deal with enquiries related to the twin tragedy near Harda in Madhya Pradesh where Kamayani Express and Janata Express trains got derailed and some bogies fell into the Machak river. At least two people died after being electrocuted during the rescue effort while many more are feared dead in the twin tragedy. Both Mumbai-Varanasi Kamayani Express and Jabalpur-Mumbai Janata Express got derailed while crossing a small bridge on Machak river late on Tuesday night.
The bridge was damaged following heavy rains in the area and tracks were submerged when the two trains coming from opposite directions on the Up and Down tracks met with the accident almost simultaneously.
Kamayani Express was the first to get derailed at around 11:30 PM and Janata Express met with the accident just a few minutes later. According to Railways six bogies of Kamayani Express and four bogies of Janata Express got derailed.

"Some bogies have fallen into the Machak river," Harda Collector Rajnish Shrivastava said about the Kamayani Express accident although he declined to comment on the casualties. The accident site is about 25 kilometers from Harda.
According to Railway spokesperson Anil Saxena there was "water on tracks and the bridge was submerged". "So the last bogies of Kamayani Express got derailed. Simultaneously, on the other track the engines and coaches of the Janata Express also got derailed," he said.
