The Ernakulam Sessions Court on Wednesday dismissed the bail applications of CPM Thiruvangad local committee secretary Karayi Chandrasekharan and former Kannur district secretariat member Karayi Rajan, the seventh and the eighth accused, respectively, in the Thalassery Fazal murder case.
Dismissing the bail pleas, Sessions Judge A Hariprasad said that if the accused are granted bail, it will affect the further investigation in the case. The accused are lodged in the district jail.
The CBI submitted that the petitioners are highly influential leaders of the CPM and had evaded the law for quite a long time.
The investigation is yet to identify two more accused in the case, and their relationship with the conspirators would have to be clarified.
The duo masterminded the criminal conspiracy to murder Fazal on grounds of political animosity, according to CBI officials.
