New Delhi: Taking a jibe at Arvind Kejriwal, BJP leader Meenakshi Lekhi on Friday claimed the AAP chief has started a save Congress campaign in the general elections.
"Like the Delhi Assembly elections, AAP is running a 'Congress Bachao Abhiyan' in such areas where voters are expected to vote for BJP in Lok Sabha elections.
But, voters have now seen AAP's reality and would not fall in their web of lies," the BJP candidate from New Delhi Lok Sabha constituency told reporters in Delhi.
Lekhi said BJP wants to reform Delhi on the Gujarat development model. "If we win these elections, we will develop Delhi and the entire country on the Gujarat development model."
The BJP leader said women's safety, empowerment and development is her first priority, adding that people living in New Delhi are facing various problems regarding water supply and sewerage.
"Congress had done nothing in the New Delhi constituency, which has a sizeable number of Government employees residing here who have their own problems related to retirement age.
LT facilities for retired employees, lack of employment opportunities as Government has stopped recruitment apart from failing community facilities in Government colonies," Lekhi said.
Lekhi said BJP demands a CBI probe into the matter of Kathputli Colony and urged the LG to stop relocation of its residents till the probe is completed.
"I will also work to ensure that those involved in corruption cases in Commonwealth Games are brought to book. It shall be my top priority to ensure that the working of the NDMC, Delhi Cantt. Board and other civic agencies are fully transparent," Lekhi also told reports.
In a statement issued here today, BJP Delhi Pradesh Loksabha Election Campaign Committee Chairman Vijay Malhotra claimed that during the 10 years of UPA rule, terrorism has reached its "climax" and if Modi becomes the Prime Minsiter the country will become free from corruption, price rise and terrorism.
