BANGALORE: Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda laid the foundation stone for Karnataka Milk Federation’s new building at the Bangalore Diary on Friday.It is being built at a cost of Rs. 20.33 crore and is estimated to finish in a year’s time.“We have one lakh active milk producers who are paid every 15 days.We also give them money from our profits, besides carrying out social services like free schooling for their children,” said Dr Devraj, deputy manager, KMF.“Our veterinary services are advanced.We have insured 5 lakh animals for amounts like 35,000 and we pay half of the 2 per cent premium for them,” he added.Speaking at the function later in the day M Veerappa Moily, Cabinet Minister of Corporate Affairs, Govt of India promised to look into the import of skimmed milk against which producers from 7 states had protested.“You must also focus on R&D in order to increase productivity, I will ensure all possible support from the Central government,” he added.Bangalore Diary caters to the needs of 3 districts, Bangalore Rural, Urban and Ramanagaram.
