BANGALORE: The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) is planning to install an online real time monitoring system to check air pollution in 15 districts across the state in a phased manner.
The initiative is aimed at identifying and mitigating pollution levels across the state, said Karnataka State Pollution Control Board Chairman A S Sadashiviah. He said, "For the installation of equipment, we are finalising the districts based on the pollution level. In the first phase we will be installing the systems at Bellary, Mangalore, Chitradurga, Belgaum, Gulbarga, Mysore and Tumkur."

"The other districts will be finalised later and taken up in the second and third phases depending on the requirement," explained.

Speaking about the working of the system, Sadashivaiah said, "Analysers for major pollutants like sulphur dioxide (SO2), carbon monoxide (CO), Respirable Suspended Particulate Matter (RSPM) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) will be installed. All the four analysers will work on different principles and represented pollution content graphically."
