Kumbh Mela: Watch Bimal Roy's footage from 1960

Bimal Roy shot extensive footage of the Kumbh Mela in 1960 as a backdrop for a feature film 'Amrit Kumbh Ki Khoj Mein.' The film was never made and the footage was forgotten. Bimal Roy died in 1966.

In March 1999, Bimal Roy's son Joy Roy accidentally discovered the footage in near perfect condition. Joy has culled 11 minutes from this footage and put together a short film called 'Images of Kumbh Mela'. All the sounds used in this film are from the soundtracks of Bimal Roy's films.
