London: Anil Kumble claimed his second five-wicket haul for Surrey to bowl out Worcestershire for 304 on the first day of the County Championship Division II match at New Road on Tuesday.

Kumble grabbed five for 80 and in combination with Ian Salisbury, who took four for 89, ploughed through the Worcestershire batting.

The 35-year old leg-spinner, who picked an 11-wicket haul against Northamptonshire, also scalped his India team mate Zaheer Khan leg before for four.

At stumps, Surrey were 42 for no loss with Scott Newman (16) and Jonathan Batty (23) at the crease.

Kumble struck first to break the solid partnership between Vikram Solanki and Australian opener Phil Jaques by having the former caught and bowled for 17.

The Indian star then picked the second of two wickets to fall in quick time, that of Steven Davies who fell leg before the leg spinner.

Jaques made a well-paced 95 that kept Worcestershire scoreboard moving despite fall of wickets at regular intervals.

The 27-year old left-hander from New South Wales put on 97 runs for the opening stand with Stephen Moore (44) and then added another 51 runs with Davies before perishing to

Salisbury.

Jaques struck 13 fours and a six from 148 balls during two-hour and 11-minute stay at the crease.

Middle order batsman Daryl Mitchell remained unbeaten an unbeaten 54 even as Kumble ransacked Worcestershire's lower order.
