BANGALORE: Sunday dawned early and with full of excitement as more than 100 individuals joined hands for a good cause, at Cubbon Park, to participate in MAD Steps, a walkathon organised by Make a Difference, a non-profit organisation that aims to provide underprivileged children with the tools to achieve more in modern India. The walkathon which commenced at 7 am lasted for close to an hour. The walkathon was organised to raise funds for the Bangalore branch of Make A Difference. Participants walked the 5.2 kilometres with much enthusiasm and gusto.Speaking about the event Rajesh Varghese, President, MAD Bangalore said, “We are extremely happy and proud with the huge success of the event. I take this opportunity to thank all the participants and the organisers who have put in their efforts to make this a big hit.”Talking about the event, Dheeraja Arora who handles Corporate Relations for MAD’s Bangalore chapter seemed quite satisfiedwith the turn-out. “It was a very big task for us, It required intensive planning over the past three months. The team and all our volunteers went the extra mile with ideas and execution, to make MAD Steps an instant hit.” Placards, designed by the children that MAD teaches, were displayed and the volunteers raised their voice in unison against education inequality and promised to bridge this gap in society through education. ‘I care, I can, I do, I Mad,’ that was one of the many catchphrases that did the rounds across Cubbon Park.‘Miles for Smiles’ was the popular tag-phrase of the day.
