The Congress in Madhya Pradesh is holding a day-long meeting here tomorrow to discuss steps to be taken to bring unity in the faction-ridden party and prepare it for the upcoming Assembly polls.

Factionalism has long been a bane of Madhya Pradesh Congress and the meet is expected to deliberate on how to forge unity among various factions and make it fighting fit for polls in the BJP-ruled state, which are likely to be held in November-December, party sources said.

The meeting comes weeks after Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi visited the state and among other things, advised partymen to sink their differences and present a united face.

Those expected to attend the conclave include Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh, Union Ministers Kamal Nath, Jyotiraditya Scindia and former Union Minister Suresh Pachouri.

The main Opposition party recently revamped the organisation and inducted several new Vice-Presidents and General Secretaries. An important change was appointment of Manak Agrawal, who was till recently Madhya Pradesh Congress Media Department Chairman, as a Vice-President.

Former State Minister Mukesh Naik, who was briefly with Uma Bharti's now-defunct Bharatiya Janashakti Party, has been appointed the new spokesman of MP Congress.

The Congress is out of power in Madhya Pradesh since 2003. The ruling BJP is also holding its three-day state executive meet which began in Gwalior on Thursday.
