NAGERCOIL: A 35-year-old drunkard son-in-law was beaten to death by his 68-year-old father-in-law due to a family feud in Eraniel near here on Monday.Rajkumar (35) of Sambanparai, near Chunkankadai, in the district was working as a daily wager in APPTA vegetable market at Ozhiginesary in the town. He was married to one Sarsawathy (30), 10 years ago and the couple have three daughters and a son.It was said that Rajkumar was a drunkard and used to quarrel with his wife and often beat his father-in-law and mother-in-law.Owing to some dispute with his wife, Rajkumar had not been visiting his house for the past 10 months, police said.Meanwhile, on Sunday night, Rajkumar went to his house and picked up a quarrel with his wife in an inebriated condition and started abusing his father-in-law Varghese (68). Irked over this, Varghese pushed down Rajkumar and beat him with a wooden log.In this attack, Rajkumar sustained head injuries and died on the spot.Based on a complaint from Rajkumar’s wife Saraswathy, Eraniel police have arrested Varghese and remanded him.
