CHENNAI: A 50-year-old man poisoned his ailing nonagenarian father and then consumed it himself at Ice House on Wednesday.Police identified the father-son duo as Chinna Kannu (90) and Ezhumalai (50), residents of Gajapathy Street in Triplicane. Ezhumalai apparently took the decision to end their lives, as he could not afford to take care of his father, who has been bed-ridden for nearly 10 years, any longer.Ezhumalai, who mixed poison in his liquor, died on Wednesday night, while his father, who was served poison-laced food, died in hospital on Thursday morning. Ezhumalai was worried there would be no one to take care of his father after his death, so he decided to kill the old man, police said. Chinna Kannu had three sons. Mohan (60) and Bhoopathy (35) lived in Madhuranthagam. Ezhumalai is survived by his wife Gunasundari, three daughters.
