MALKANGIRI: Maoists, in a letter to the District Collector, have demanded release of all tribals who have been languishing in Malkangiri and Koraput jails after being implicated on false charges. They also demanded a ban on the Operation Green Hunt. The letter was recently handed over to Collector Balwant Singh by a village level worker. The three-page letter written in Telugu was signed by CPI (Maoist) Malkangiri division secretary Poonam Chand. The letter read that though Collector R Vineel Krishna had been released by the Maoists, the State Government was yet to fulfil its promises. The banned outfit demanded fulfilment of all its demands, including supply of rice to people in the cut-off areas of the district. It threatened dire consequences if the Government ignored the plea.
