Meeting of Kerala, Tamil Nadu members held

KATTAPPANA: A meeting, chaired by Central Soil and Materials Research Station (CSMRS) director Murari Ratnam with the representatives of Kerala and Tamil Nadu, was held in Mullaperiyar on Wednesday.The meeting was convened to discuss about the ongoing Remotely Operated Vehicle(ROV) test in the Mullaperiyar dam.The members representing Kerala were Irrigation Department chief engineer P Lathika, Mullaperiyar special chairman M K Parameswaran Nair and Irrigation Department executive engineer Daniel George.Tamil Nadu was represented by senior officials led by M Selvaraj, member secretary, Kaveri Technical Cell.Meanwhile, a toplevel official of the Irrigation Department said that the ROV survey by the expert team from CSMRS continued on Wednesday to examine the present condition of the dam. The whole dam is divided into 100 blocks and the survey of each block is going on. He said that the random test has been conducted and question about the safety of the dam would be cleared only once the survey of the whole block is done.The survey will continue for another 2 weeks, he said.
