Jammu: A top Army commander on Wednesday asked security forces, intelligence agencies and civil administration to remain alert, warning that militants may disrupt peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
"There is a need to remain alert in view of recent developments, since there is a possibility of terrorists attempting to disrupt peace in the region," General Officer Commanding White Knight Corps, Lt Gen AS Nandal said, chairing a core group meeting at Nagrota on city outskirts.
The General said, "The downward trend in terrorism was attributable to the high degree of domination and effectiveness achieved by all security agencies in the state."
"This should not, however, lull us into complacency, as the intentions of terrorists cannot be predicted, while their infrastructure across the LC continues to be intact," the General said.
Lt Gen Nandal, who is also security advisor to the Governor, complimented the security forces, intelligence agencies and civil administration for ensuring peace and tranquillity and for achieving a very high degree of synergy in efficiently handling the challenges of internal security in the region.
The meeting was also co-chaired by the Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda and attended by the top brass of various security agencies.
