New Delhi: Passengers of a Delhi bound Rajdhani Express had a close shave on Tuesday when the train was stopped just before entering the city after smoke was seen arising from its rear compartment.
"The coach was detached from the rest of the train immediately," said Northern Railways spokesperson.
Smoke was detected soon after the Patna Rajdhani Express bound for Delhi had crossed Anand Vihar station.
"We immediately brought the train to a halt between Anand Vihar station and Tilak Bridge station and the coach (the generartor car) was detached. The train is now ready to proceed ahead," the spokesperson said.
The incident comes barely within days of the tragic rail mishap at Fatehpur which had claimed 68 lives.
The fire brigade officials said the fire was of minor nature and five fire tenders were rushed to the spot.
